How to Make Life in Infinite Craft

Combine Earth + Mars = Life. Starting with the basic elements, the Sandstorm route below takes five combinations. Follow both branches: Planet and Sandstorm are needed to make Mars.

Earth + Wind → Dust
Dust + Earth → PlanetDust + Wind → Sandstorm
Planet + Sandstorm → Mars
Mars + Earth → Life
  1. Earth + Wind = Dust
  2. Dust + Earth = Planet
  3. Dust + Wind = Sandstorm
  4. Planet + Sandstorm = Mars
  5. Mars + Earth = Life

Water and Fire are not used in this route. Stop at Life; making another element is a separate recipe.

The Complete Desert Alternative

You can also reach Mars through Desert. This route takes six combinations from the starting inventory:

  1. Earth + Wind = Dust
  2. Dust + Dust = Sand
  3. Sand + Sand = Desert
  4. Dust + Earth = Planet
  5. Planet + Desert = Mars
  6. Mars + Earth = Life

The extra combination comes before Mars. Making Sand and then Desert takes two combinations from Dust; making Sandstorm takes one.

Which Route Is Shorter With Your Inventory?

The five-combination route wins from scratch. It does not always win after you have unlocked other blocks. If you already have Dust, Planet and Desert, use Planet + Desert, then Mars + Earth: two combinations remain. Building Sandstorm instead would take three.

Use the table with the basic elements plus the blocks explicitly listed in the first column. The counts include every missing dependency, count a shared ingredient only once, and compare these two routes only.

Sand alone does not create an advantage over the Sandstorm branch when Dust and Planet are also available. Sand + Sand makes Desert in one combination; Dust + Wind makes Sandstorm in one. Both then need Mars and Life, so the remaining count is three either way.

Why a Four-Level Tree Takes Five Combinations

Tree depth and combination count measure different things. Dust sits at depth one. Planet and Sandstorm both sit at depth two, followed by Mars at three and Life at four.

You still have to craft both depth-two ingredients. That makes five combinations, not four. A route that names Planet without showing Dust + Earth has left out a required action unless Planet is already in your inventory.

For the Sandstorm tree, depth is one plus the greater ingredient depth at each merge. Total work is the number of distinct missing recipe outputs. The branching level therefore adds two outputs to the work count while adding just one level to the depth.

Is Carbon + Water a One-Step Shortcut?

Carbon + Water = Life and Science + Earth = Life are alternative endings. They are one additional combination only when the named ingredient is already available. Their complete starting-element routes are not supplied here, so neither ending is assigned a from-scratch count or presented as shorter than five.

Check what you already have before choosing. Mars means one remaining combination; Dust, Planet and Desert favour the Desert branch; a fresh inventory favours the complete Sandstorm branch above.
